Practical Piano Pedagogy Workshop
Practical Piano Pedagogy Workshop offers a three-day intensive course, where you will be immersed into the world of piano pedagogy lectures, activities and discussions, all planned in chronological order. The workshop offers concrete ideas on building a musical foundation from the very first piano lesson to advanced stages of musical development.
Have you ever asked yourself why do some students sound so beautiful on the piano and others don’t? We believe that everything starts from the very first piano lesson. Musician’s success highly depends on the first few years of lessons. Good foundation is everything! In our workshop we concentrate on teaching tone quality, arms’ freedom and flexibility, developing technique, musicianship, artistry, and much more.
You will participate in music teaching activities, learning and understanding Irina Gorin’s philosophy and concepts that provide the foundation to develop musical ability and healthy technical habits during childhood piano lessons. Exploring in detail Gorin’s piano method, “Tales of a Musical Journey,” you will learn how not only to teach piano but also raise an outstanding young musician. Written for a beginning piano student, the method blends Russian and American teaching methods and prepares the students for a classical repertoire.
In addition, with Margarita Denenburg, D.M.A., you will explore how to successfully change bad technique habits of transfer students, developing technique in advanced stages of piano playing, and learn the basic principles of effective musical interpretation.
